Springfield is home to many wonderful state parks of which the following are most popular:

Cotton Sky

In Carthage, MO, the main attraction is a historic 7.4-acre tract, which was the site of a famous 12-hour battle of 1861, July 5. The Battle of Carthage State Historical Site is still kept at the same condition as it was after the battle.  The park is situated at Truman, Lamar.

Bennet Springs State Park is a popular destination for fishing and canoeing. Go for a 7-mile walk through a natural tunnel or take a trail for walking. Whatever you do, this place will help u relax.

Big Sugar Creek State Park is known for its unusual animals and fishes like the Neosho orangethroat darter. The scenic hillside with the forests provides complete solitude. The park is in southwest Missouri, near northeast of Pineville in McDonald County.

The Stockton State Park is located on the S. Highway Dadeville, MO. This is a wonderful place with clear water, which is suitable for boating and fishing. You can hire personal watercrafts or even a houseboat from the marina. The park is also a favorite spot of photographers and bird watchers.

If trout fishing is what you are looking for, go to the Roaring River State Park in Cassville, MO. Feed the fish at the spring pool or tour the hatchery with your whole family. The park also has a store, a picnic area and a swimming pool.
